Charles Lindbergh Dial

  Charles Augustus Lindbergh (February 4, 1902 – August 26, 1974), nicknamed Slim,[1] Lucky Lindy, and The Lone Eagle, was an American aviator, author, inventor, explorer, and social activist. At 25 he became a  U.S. Air Mail pilot. From obscurity to instant world fame was accomplished by his victory in being awarded the Orteig Prize for his solo non-stop flight  from Roosevelt Field in Garden City on New York’s Long Island to Le Bourget Field in Paris, Franceon May 20–21, 1927. A distance of nearly 3,600 miles in the single-seat, single-engine purpose-built Ryan monoplane named the Spirit of St. Louis; Lindbergh was the first person in history to be in New York one day and Paris the next.As a U.S. Army Air Corps Reserve officer, was also awarded the Medal of Honor for his historic exploit–the nation’s highest military decoration. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Lindbergh would use his fame in the promotion and development of commercial aviation, incuding the Air Mail service in the United States and the Americas. tremendous public hysteria” in America.  In 1927, Lindbergh invented the Lindbergh Hour Angle Navigation watch which allowed the user to quickly determine his or her Greenwich hour angle, or in other words, current longitude. When Lindbergh contacted Longines about his inventuion, Longines immedialy brought the watch to the public. The Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle Navigation Watch would be produced and sold for decades.

  NOTE: THE FACT IS THESE  WATCHES HAD ROTATING BEZELS THEY ALSO HAD A LOCK MECHANISM TO HOLD DIAL IN PRESCRIBED POSITION ALL OF THESE WERE MADE BY LONGINES BEFORE LONGINES BEGAN PRODUCTION, SEVERAL COMPANIES SEEMED TO HAVE MADE VARIANTS THIS DIAL IS RESTORED ORIGINAL
